High Intensity Interval Training - What is it?
LUCIE offers High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with the boxing discipline in a motivating 'club' atmosphere. But what is HIIT exactly? High Intensity Interval Training HIIT is a form of endurance sport, in which you alternate short periods of intensive training with 'rest periods' or lower intensity. Whereas many sports are characterised by exercises at a consistent level, High Intensity Interval Training is characterised by an alternation of short and powerful moments with even shorter moments of relaxation.

What is High Intensity Interval Training at LUCIE?
Boxing is a form of High Intensity Interval Training. You alternate periods of very intensive exercise with breaks. What muscles do you train with High Intensity Interval Training?
With the High Intensity Interval training during boxing you have the ideal workout for your whole body. Both your upper body is active by the punches and also your lower body you train plenty. During the High Intensity Interval Training at LUCIE you train the following muscles:

Arms
When you punch, you transfer the power and energy from your body through your arms. You do not have to have very muscular arms; slender arms are also fine. The impact of the punch is determined by your mass times the speed.

Legs and calves
As your legs are slightly bent during boxing and you generally move on the front of your foot, your leg muscles are put under tension. So you train both your legs and calves!

Belly or six-pack?
The connecting point of your body is your abdomen. Your abdominal muscles are essential for powerful punching during the High Intensity Interval Training. So during the training you also do abdominal exercises, which also help to create your six-pack.

Flexible in the hips
Your hips are very important to make certain (fake) movements. So during boxing you will become more and more flexible in your hips!

Shoulders
If you do the High Intensity Interval Training, the relatively small muscles of your shoulders always carry the weight of your arms. So your shoulders are not really about strength, but about endurance.

Chest muscles
Your chest muscles ensure that you can move your arms well, because they have a supporting function here. During the High Intensity Interval Training you do push-ups, among other things, so that you also train your chest muscles.

Back muscles
Say what? Yes, you also train your back muscles optimally during boxing. Your big back muscles are constantly strained and also your lower back gets strong from boxing.
